New Days

So yeasterday was pretty busy.

Got up at 5:30 and went to work. Did worky-ish sort of things.

Yacked some with my sweetie when I got home from work in the thereabouts of one thirty for about an hour until he got ready for us to go out to the beach and such. I took me a short nap, it always feels like when I leave the apartment that a vampire is sucking something vital from me.

Its not the outside world that is doing it so much as if you can't take the time to make yourself or other people happy you're only taking time away from your own life. And that is exhausting. People only do things for two reasons - to be happy or to ascertain that they can be happy in the future. No in between, even if being miserable makes you happy.

Anyway- we went to the beach, which had spectacular sea foam kicking around making the sand and water look almost like snow. The recent hurricane passing by dropped a cold front on us that resulted in me having on a long-sleeved shirt, fleecey vest, and a pullover complete with ski cap and mittens. We stayed for about twenty minutes laughing at surfers, talking, and just enjoying the experience and each other.

Afterwards we went to Harris Teeter to do some shopping. Picked up some garlic onion flatbread and some flaxseed pasta for a spaghetti dinner. Much to my husbands delight, we also found that HT makes their own natural ice creams now. For example on the Coffee- "Milk, sugar, cream, coffee." Nothing artifical. So we got the coffee and a chocolate (buy one get one free!). The vanilla had artificial vanilla or vanillin or something. Oddly, the french vanilla had the real deal but my husband was not fond of the idea with eggs in his ice cream.

Then after dropping the groceries off at home (5:30) we went to the movie theatre to pick up our advance tickets to Harry Potter Nov 17th's midnight showing. Dodge the kiddies, haha! This was one of my favorite series books so I'm really psyched about it.

Then we went to WalMart to pick up some essentials. Didn't get out of there until after seven. Went home and fixed dinner, done at eight thirty-ish. Our internet was out so we went to Blockbuster to pick up a couple of movies. Picked up MindHunters and Blood of Beasts. First one resulted in me needing to stay up an extra thirty minutes just to shake off the lingering paranoia and the second one was B-flick that we giggled through. It could be likened to Xena warrior princess cast extras and a couple porn-star actresses being given a script cross-bred between Beauty and the Beast and Beowulf. Somewhere near the end of the movie I think they realized they were trying to make a serious movie. End of Day 3 AM.

Spottings and Sightings

So other than doctors that are spending their weekend at Mayo Clinic functions being obsessed with trying to make me laugh....
I did too many invoices but I did find the time to look up Toys R Us. Recent events have led to the reevaluation of our entertainments. I heard the "b" word from his mouth, board games. Without going into detail- games were drama apparently in his family. In mine, drama only occured between the sometimes not-so-friendly competitive-ness between my neice and I. Mostly occuring on the Monopoly front. So I should include here that I love the game, but all of the sessions took hours and we never finished a single one. I've had shorter chess games than Monopoly.

While I was looking, I spotted this furry figure- my husband will recognize it from fond times down at Orlando Fashion Square Mall kiosks.

I was able to hunt down the most common of my favorite card/board games:
Uno: 6.99
Monopoly: 9.99
Scrabble 9.99

I always wanted to try Rook (6.99), my parents had a set, but they would never teach me how to play. They said it was an adult game like Poker and tried to cast a light on it that it wasn't a good game for little girls, or improper or some hoo-hah.

I've heard good things about Apples to Apples (24.99) but it seems more of a multiple person game.

I also found Trivial Pursuit 6 (14.97), which I would hopefully be better at since the old edition back home I always hated because the questions were for way before I was even born.

Agitation Leads to Speed

Well in short, quitting WoW. Yes again. Whatever to you. I have a general meh, the only thing that I was semi-worked over for a couple hours was a guild merger that happened under my nose. I wouldn't have known but for my husband telling me. Lovely. So I have a couple people I need to contact, say adios and hand out business cards to. Really should have done this sooner, lots of my other parts of life have suffered.

Have quite a few games I've never finished, I've mostly stopped drawing, quilting, and I have only read more because of my job. On top of that, I really have been itching for months to do 3D work but I've been misprioritizing that idea. Extremely. I have lots to do and my mind has been stunned and aggravated by the sudden opening of the floodgate. Most of my agitation due to if I knew the things that were going to occur as they are, I wouldn't have renewed and we could have purchased other things. Its nearly a tank of gas that money. Anyway.

So first off is organizing the financial calendar so I can actually keep up with the bills better and we can do things again. After that I need to junp in to some pre-production just to get moving. Sometimes you just need to do, not because you have an idea it will be big- but because you can do it. Skill, talent, whatever. But its true that if you don't use it, you lose it. You can reconcile with losing things when you get too old to change your own pants or shoes, but not a moment sooner.

Interesting news article on Jack Thompson finally getting a fire lit under him. We really need to learn from this, make an example of him rather than making him dissapear. After all, he's making a rather good job of making himself look crazy without any help.
Penny Arcade forum members wrote, edited and sent letters and faxes to the Florida Bar Association detailing Thompson's activities and urging the review of his license to practice law. Jack Thompson has already received a reprimand by the FBA for his antics in 1998, and according to a spokesperson, the letters and faxes have been received and forwarded to the disciplinary committee.

Pocky is candy?

Now, since I was exposed as a young child to import cartoons, SciFi's late-night/Saturday Anime, and then to Toonami on Cartoon Network back in THE day... I've seen pocky boxes around. With how people ate it, I always assumed it was something like jerky or flavored jerky (I suppose because it resembled narrow jerky sized strips to my eyes). Also that was a longtime crazy with my age group, who could at any time have a couple bags rolled up in their backpacks. At least that would make sense to me, meat obsession- protein. Mmm.

Today, that was forever disspelled to my shock. Shortpacked has been talking about Men's Pocky (how can you get more masculine than jerky? Darn Japanese) and today I looked at some of the seventy-seven responses. That's when it hit me... chocolate coated? Jerky? Nobody is that nuts and it work. Nose nose, huhhh... that doesn't make any sense... Wiki!!!

So what, pocky is like coated biscotti?

I'm kinda dissapointed. It was somehow more interesting to think people were obsessed with a dried meat product (Slim Jim anyone?) than a candy. But I guess I really shouldn't try to compare the rationale of one country against another like the U.S. and Japan. Oh well. Someone get me an apple fritter.

CSI Season 5 will be released end of November! Figures they'd save it for Christmas holidays. Desperate Housewives and Lost are already on DVD but they're saving CSI... bah humbug!

Since I Saw You Last

Lots to say today

First off, odd odd dream that I had last night.

I was evidently getting a full workup in some sort of spa. The first man I see is a handsome specimen of such blended ethnicity that it made the only identifiable country was that of Italy- maybe a French nose. He proceeds to say that he will be the last station I will come to, my massage to last thirty minutes. Ooh la la. He tries to give me his cell phone number but I keep accidentally/deliberately screwing up the number to where I call my husband and my mother. Ha ha. He gives up in disappointment.

I have to dash away for a few minutes in which I’m wandering around this spa/flavorless business area-cubicle country. I return in time for Usher to attempt to cut and style my hair. I mercifully wake up. I don’t doubt that Usher would be able to do a straight trim, but I wonder how much hair I would have left after he was done.

Eventful weekend.

Capping off- I got my car back this past Thursday all nice and spiffy. Most of Friday and Saturday are a blur of cleaning and washing with many hours of grocery shopping. Saturday night alone we spent around two hours in Wal-Mart, not getting home till ten. Not long after we went to bed before midnight- resulting in the most sleep both me and my husband have had all week. Sunday is really the only day I clearly remember.

Sunday we got up around eleven but didn’t start to get cleaned up to go shopping until after noon. Shopped at Sam’s and then we decided to go out to eat rather than cook since there was still a lot we need to do.

The horrible nature of Ryan’s to Whistle Junction

To Roadhouse Grill!

We went home, and I started doing laundry and we played WoW for a few hours. Wasn’t making that much headway into my level since it was a mostly turn-in day to advance to quests and clear the log/inventory.

My credit card – So we’re tired of sitting around like we have for the past month as a result of the car being worked on/mostly broke. We decide hey, let’s try to catch a movie. Doodle do, check my limits. Hey, I know I should have about fifty dollars more room on this card, what the heck? Call and talk to a lady that explains Enterprise has a hold on that amount. Now, at the time they told me it was for a credit check- odd since the dealership was picking up the tab. Just be ‘pinging’ it so to speak, but it has to be a credit, not check card or the charge would come through. Come to find out, they had trouble retrieving my reservation. Ha ha. Apparently they never renounced the ‘ping’. Lovely. So I need to deal with that today.

But we went and saw Waiting.... Enjoyed it a lot and lightened up the evening. Saw some good trailers.

Went home, did a little more laundry, cleaned the kitchen, moved my character to Orgrimmar, then went to bed. So far today I've been to the store and back, taken out two bags of trash, and loaded up the dishwasher- oops forgot to start it! Still haven't reached Arlington about the credit back.. grr.

Hope I can get some major PvP on tonight.. hasn't been anything all week. :(

Code Name: Razorhoney

Still no car, I'm going to hopefully hear news today that they got the last stupid part and I can pick it up this evening. This is getting really rediculous, two and a half weeks on a job I was originally told would take four days.

First delay-more body damage than we thought-ok.
Second delay-its being painted-cool.
Third delay-putting in a new glass-what? Your quarterglass doesn't fit anymore. I thought you already did body work?
Forth delay-car latch part we have isn't the one for your car, we have to get the right part-are you incompetent or do you think I'm just stupid?
Fifth delay-we're painting it again, and still no part-*incoherant mass of rage*

So the day after the quarterglass thing I called and complained to insurance. Because of the time, and also because I would be told the delay and then be told that I could maybe pick it up later that day at the latest the next day. Until the next day rolled around and I would call and hear the next excuse and be promised the exact same thing.

I'm talking about THESE PEOPLE-if you ever move to Jax, avoid them. They are liars, absolutely the most obnoxious self-centered, and disrespectful dealership I have ever seen. And that's saying a lot.

Had a friend that went there to price a Prius and the salesman was cracking stripper jokes in front of the friend and his girlfriend. On top of that, he tried to sell them a car other than the Prius after quoting them a high price on it and saying it would require a down payment now of an equally high price and wouldn't show up for a month. Right- and it was a model downgrade of what they wanted. So the friend went to Orange Park and got exactly what he wanted. That day. I wish they were doing my repair work.

*cries*
